Art has always been one of my great life passions…
Since I was a child, I have enjoyed drawing and painting. My passion for art motivated me to pursue formal art training in college where I discovered another passion: watercolors. After graduating with a BA in Fine Art, I spent several years working as a graphic designer where I learned to combine fine arts with graphic design in a wide range of projects including logos, brochures, newspapers, book covers and even large-scale murals.
Through the years I’ve experimented with a variety of mediums and I enjoyed them all. More recently, I began working with chalk pastels. I enjoy and appreciate the medium’s flexibility, and the quick results it can produce.
Over the years, I’ve wanted to use my art as a vehicle for sharing my love of nature and its Creator. Wherever I look in the world around me I see amazing beauty. I find myself particularly drawn to use light in my art to illuminate the beauty I see. I’m reminded of the words of the Hebrew poet and psalmist, “In Thy light, we see light” (Psalm 36:9). I truly believe it is in His light that we discover both the beauty of the world around us and the artistic heart of the One Who uses this world as His artist’s pallet.
In recent years, I’ve also experienced a growing desire for my art to reflect the beauty of the Kingdom of God. Again, I’m reminded of the words of the Hebrew psalmist who declared, “They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power, to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds, and the glorious splendor of your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. The LORD is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.” (Psalm 145:11-13)
My passion for art, my experimentation with chalk pastels and my desire to communicate the beauty of God’s Kingdom recently came together in a two-year writing and illustrating project. The end result of that project is a children’s book, Alex’s Amazing Kingdom Adventure, which I wrote and illustrated, and which is now available on Amazon.com. Prints of the various illustrations in that book, as well as, other illustrations are also available
on-line through Fine Art America.
My prayer is that, through my art, my viewers will come to a deeper understanding and appreciation for “the glorious splendor” of His Kingdom. I hope you enjoy my artwork. If you have any questions or want to chat, please feel free to use the “Contact” option in the top page menu.
